Project Brief
People perceive the quality of healthcare based on their experience at hospitals and not necessarily by the quality of care provided by them. Even before the patient meets the doctor he comes in contact with the system at many key experiential points that have the ability to change the perception of his experience within the healthcare system. The current healthcare system only feels the need to provide for the customer at the point at which he/she meets the doctor and ignores the other experiential points.

The scope of this project lies in designing a healthcare institution that encourages patients to interact with the system and services in areas apart from their rooms thus, familiarizing them with the space and creating a comfortable healthcare environment. This environment hastens their recovery, reduces their time spent in the hospital and diminishes the cost.

What is Eksa ?
Eksa Orthopedic Care was a result of our collective effort to create a healthcare space that breaks away from the negative, gloomy picture a hospital or a clinic paints in a consumer’s head. To create a brand that is synonymous with empathy, addressing the consumer’s needs and making the journey of relief, treatment and cure, easier and more comfortable. We seek to be unique, different from all the larger corporate spaces that exist in the urban pockets of the city. A smaller, familiar speciality space that empowers its customers and stakeholders through knowledge, systems and assistance. Thus the name ‘Eksa’- one of a kind.
The hospital room could not be designed in isolation; being part of a building the room would be influenced by the design of the floor plan (Light availability, movement of people). Therefore, before commencing the design of the room I needed to plot the floor plan.
